Information on the SemesterTicket NRW
The NRW local transport authorities offer a SemesterTicket NRW that is valid within the whole state of North Rhine-Westphalia. You are entitled to a SemesterTicket NRW if you are a student of a state-approved university that has an existing contract concerning the SemesterTicket NRW with the transport authority in charge.
This requires a regional semester ticket of the transport authority (e.g. VRR, VRL, OWL) responsible for the area in which the university is located. A SemesterTicket NRW can only be ordered as an addition to an existing regional semester ticket issued by a transport authority. Student authentication as well as the billing process are carried out each semester by the university.
Area of validity
The SemesterTicket NRW's area of validity is the same as the area of validity of the RelationspreisTickets of the NRW tariff in effect at the time of purchase. The semester ticket NRW enables you to travel beyond the area of validity of regional semester tickets and through all of NRW.
